A network of 80+ stream sites across Iowa have been monitored on a monthly basis since October 1999 for a variety of parameters. The graphs summarize the data from all sites by month collected from January 2000 through December 2002.

A network of 23 stream sites near 10 urban areas
across Iowa are being monitored for a variety of parameters.
Streams are being monitored in the cities of Ames, Cedar Rapids, Des
Moines, Fort Dodge, Iowa City, Marshalltown, Mason City, Ottumwa,
Spencer, and Waterloo. For each city, the stream is monitored
upstream of the urban area and downstream of each city's wastewater
treatment facility outfall.

Three surface water sites in eastern Iowa were monitored on a daily
basis in order to evaluate the variability of selected parameters
through time in Iowa streams.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the University Hygienic Laboratory (UHL) have sampled fish and benthic
macroinvertebrates to assess the biological integrity of Iowa's streams and rivers.
